We use player and device data to run accounts, cloud saves, multiplayer features, support, security, and game operations. We do not sell personal data and Grimvale does not use advertising SDKs for targeted advertising.
Who we are and what this covers
The Grimvale Team is the controller of personal data handled for Grimvale: Survival (Grimvale, we, us, or our). This policy covers the Android and iOS apps, multiplayer and cloud-save services, support communications, and this website.
You can play some parts of Grimvale as a guest. Linked accounts and online features require additional information so that we can authenticate you, preserve progress, and connect you to the realm.
Data we collect
Account and identity
Firebase user ID; email address, display name, and profile image supplied by Google or Apple when you choose a linked sign-in; Grimvale username, avatar, motto, account timestamps, and session records.
Gameplay and cloud saves
Kingdom progress, heroes, troops, formations, inventory, resources, quests, battles, dungeons, rewards, world-map actions, diplomacy, and related timestamps and identifiers.
Social content
Friends and friend requests, realm chat, direct messages, tavern-game chat, system mail, player reports, and interaction history needed to deliver those features.
Device and service information
App platform and version, a game device identifier, push notification token, network request timestamps, service errors, and technical logs. Hosting providers may also process IP addresses and standard connection information when delivering the service.
Support information
Your email address and anything you include in a support request, such as screenshots, recordings, device details, or a description of a problem.
Grimvale does not need precise location, contacts, camera, or microphone access for normal gameplay. Notifications are optional and can be disabled in your device settings.
How we use data
- Authenticate linked accounts and maintain secure sessions.
- Save, restore, and synchronise progress across devices.
- Run the shared world, battles, dungeons, events, chat, friends, mail, and notifications.
- Prevent duplicate rewards, cheating, abuse, unauthorised access, and service disruption.
- Diagnose faults, improve reliability and balance, and answer support requests.
- Comply with law, enforce applicable rules, and protect players and the service.
We do not use Grimvale data to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Our lawful bases
Where UK data-protection law applies, we rely on:
- Contract — to provide the game, linked accounts, cloud saves, and online features you request.
- Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, troubleshoot, improve, and support Grimvale, while balancing those interests against your rights.
- Consent — for optional permissions such as push notifications, which you can withdraw in device settings.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
What other players can see
Multiplayer features may show your Grimvale username, avatar, motto, kingdom level, leaderboard progress, online or recent activity, kingdom and formation activity, and content you post in realm chat or tavern chat. Friends can see and exchange direct messages with you. Direct messages are not public, but recipients can retain or share what you send them.
Avoid using your real name or sharing private information in your username, motto, or chat messages.
How long we keep data
- Active authentication sessions are designed to expire after seven days.
- Realm chat is designed to retain recent messages for about seven days.
- Account, cloud-save, gameplay, social, direct-message, and world-state records are kept while needed to provide the service or until the relevant account or data is deleted.
- Security, reliability, and support records are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose or a legal requirement.
When data is deleted, it may take additional time to disappear from protected backup copies during ordinary backup rotation. We may retain a limited record where required by law or necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or repeated security threats.
Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to certain uses. You can withdraw notification permission in your device settings.
Your right to object
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to that processing. We will stop unless we have compelling lawful grounds to continue or need the data for legal claims.
To exercise a right or request full account deletion, email grimvale.survival@hotmail.com. Include your Grimvale username and contact us from the email linked to the account where possible. We may ask for limited information to verify ownership. Resetting the game is not the same as deleting an account.
UK users can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, although we would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
For practical steps, see account deletion support.
Security
We use safeguards designed to protect data, including encrypted network transport, authenticated service endpoints, access controls, short-lived sessions, and server-side validation of sensitive game actions. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please protect your linked account and device.
Children
Grimvale is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data without the consent required by applicable law, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States, and other countries where they operate. Where required, we rely on approved transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards intended to protect personal data when it moves internationally.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Grimvale's features, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here, update the date above, and use an in-game or other prominent notice when a change materially affects players.
